Ah, that's right. She'd thought it'd been Giraffe or something at first. Apparently, she'd heard him right the first time and shouldn't doubt it as much. Another nod.
"Dr. Griffe. That's a good start. What exactly were you told to do?"
... Most people wouldn't want children who are in their care to know they're being sold like fodder. Rebecca bites the inside of her cheek to keep from saying it, letting a couple seconds of silence pass. She loosens her jaw when she tastes the sharp tang of blood.
"Alright, Mr. Gloria, let's keep this simple. What else can you tell me about your contact with CLAW? When did this contact occur/ Had you any previous contact with any of them before?"
She sucks in a breath and looks at Matt for that one. Her head feels like it's about to explode, and her hands clasp behind her back so they can grip one another until it hurts without seeming even more defensive. She doesn't want to give this man anything but a bare-handed fist to his face.
"Alright." It was definitely something to work with. She takes a deep breath and releases her hands to her sides.
"Your cry alerted several agents to your location, myself included. What happened before we arrived? Is there anything you remember about what might have been said in that time? Any strange sounds or things that seemed unusual?"
Still a touchy subject, then. She nods, lips rolling inward for a moment until she speaks again, her voice even and calm.
"I understand being upset, Mr. Gloria, but raising your voice isn't going to do anyone any good. I would feel the same if someone attacked me, but given your choices, I'm sure you can understand why there would be retaliation." She thinks back to what Aaron and Eric had discussed while she'd been in the infirmary. There wasn't much to go on.
"So you've never had anything like this happen to you before? Nothing about them was familiar?"
"Alright. I have one more thing for you then, Mr. Gloria. Before you leave, I want as many names of those kids as you can give us. Physical descriptions, anything we need to know about them, and locations they are likely to be.
"If you have staff who would know more, I can see to it that you get an email to send them information to. Anything we find - any kids we find - will not be traced back to you." Paradigm had its own ways of finding meats, after all, but he didn't need to know that.
"If they need time, that's fine. I would like as many names as possible sent to the email I will leave within a week, however." She gives him a meaningful look.
"Doing this could do good things for you." Plus, you know, a chance to be a good person. She still wants to punch him, though.
She resist the urge to tell him that he's never leaving as much as she does the instinct to look at Matt. He may be a senior agent with experience, but this is her investigation. If she screws up, it's her own fault.
She can't let that happen.
"If there's no one who can forward the address for you, then we're done here. We'll let them know. It shouldn't take much longer before you're free." She offers a cold, polite smile.
"It was nice talking to you, Mr. Gloria. You've been very helpful." She doesn't mean a damn word of it, her lips barely moving. "I would suggest cutting off ties with CLAW if I were you, though. I'd hate to hear that you were falling back on bad habits, especially with your attacker still on the run.
"The sooner you get us the address - unedited - the sooner we can begin looking into the biker and make sure they can't attack you again." She kind of hopes they do, but in the end, killing him won't save those kids. Others may be at risk, but...
No. Think about it later.
Now she looks at Matt, letting him know she's ready to leave.
Nooooope. Nuh-uh. Not a fan of the touching. Rebecca twists so that she's partially facing Matt as they walk, enough to let his arm drop off her shoulder as she shakes her head.
"Thanks. I might as well get used to the boring parts though, right?"
