The color drains from her face at Eric's blatant explanation, even if no one seems to have heard her yet. Rebecca stops in her tracks and stares at Eric, simply becuse she's not sure she wants to know what she walked in on. Not completely.
Her cheeks flush in anger at Silas's response, the smooth and smug tone as if he has whatever game he's got planned in the bag. She inhales sharply, letting out a heavy sigh through her nose before her expression turns as hard as stone.
She really doesn't want to go over there, but she does. The footsteps feel like she has cinder blocks tied to her feet. Not even one night after Silas gets mad at her for a date that happened before he confesses being interested, then walks away convinced he's right, and now this? Is this a punishment for her, or is this just some sort of sick joke?
And Enya? The one who had told her to stay away from Silas, then said she didn't care anymore when Becca ignored that desire? Was this why?
Well, Becca, this is what happens when the guy you like is an asshole. She forces herself to step forward and look at the pair, the way they're positioned and whose hands are where.
"Funny." The words may be quiet, but they leave her throat as raw as if she'd screamed. "I didn't realize the word 'banned' had its meaning changed." She looks from Enya to Silas, then turns and heads towards the kitchen for a glass of water, which she'd been after when she first came in the door.
"But then, I guess all that matters on if you're interested or not."
His smile falters only slightly when Becca comes by, but he's quick to plaster it back on again. He doesn't respond verbally to either of them, but gets off Enya when the door closes and scoots to the edge of the bed.
Silas's observation can be confirmed by the sound of Rebecca slamming the cabinet door as she leans up on the counter to get a glass. She takes great satisfaction in the sound of the door to Enya's pod slamming, but she doesn't turn around or acknowledge any justification that may have been given.
She sets the glass on the counter and stares at the kitchen sink faucet, no longer interested in the water. Or much of anything.
Fuck Silas. And fuck Enya, too.
“I'm getting the fuck out of here,” she says as she turns to Eric. “Preferably before I hit something. You wanna come along?”
"A mixture, perhaps. It started as the improvisation, then I admit I enjoys where it lead us. As it went on, I became amused at the idea of Eric stumbling upon us. Rebecca had not even crossed my mind."
"Yes, in a sense. Your aggravation with others leads you to abusing them as an outlet. But you don't want to do that anymore, so you need another way to keep your calm, don't you?"
