((OoC: Figured I'd fire this up several days in advance so people don't feel pressured to post quick. Obviously it could run well past the holiday but whatever, have some large group interaction! I have some things planned out that I may or may not get depending on things, just give your character a number when you post and don't worry about having every number in sequence.))
Christmas Eve has arrived! As the clock strikes seven at night the doors to the large hall designated for the party open to allow any and all-comers inside.
The hall is decked out with decorations. The columns painted like candy canes, wreaths hanging from the top as gold garland strung between them with interwoven lights. Tables are positioned to the sides to allow for a small dance floor/open area in the center, each covered with festive cloth. At the far end is the stage with a sound system set up, playing all kinds of Christmas music and a large tree with lights and tinsel but surprisingly lacking in ornaments! Underneath is a collection of presents, one to each member of Paradigm, from Santa and a large bag of smaller boxes each numbered. But that's for later! To the left of the entrance is a buffet with all sorts of holiday fare of food, starters to dessert and drinks. A couple bots have been re-purposed to help out. The coup de grace is up on the ceiling, mini holographic projections that are hidden away project a starry and snowy night sky for all to see.
Inside Kanon is making sure everything is set as the doors are opened, holding a bowl of tiny slips of paper in her hands. She's wearing a classic red Santa's helper red dress with white fringe, matching cap, and thigh high red and white striped leggings. Happy as can be she tapes the handwritten sign to the front of it instructing people to take a number and places it on the table as people entered.
Christmas party!! The orange haired girl had found an outfit for the occasion while out shopping, and had donned furry white boots to match. She was bouncing around with her arms full of small presents, most without names. She didn't know many people, so she didn't really have anybody to buy for personally.
Grabbing her number, she followed the instructions. "I brought gifts!" She called out to Kanon. "And cookies!" She had to shift the brightly wrapped presents to hold up a rather large bag of cookies. "Gingerbread and snickerdoodle!"
Boy oh boy was Fredegund excited. Her little heart was pounding in her chest and she was at odds with how she should typically behave at parties, like the ones at one, and the one right in front of her. Some people were dressing up, some weren't, some brought things, some didn't... She didn't recognize the faces of most of the people here, compared to how her parents had to know almost everyone at their parties, for fear of not knowing who their business partners were. Freedom always was a liberating, yet daunting experience.
The decorations at home are showy, but formal. Lots to look at, but moreso to have a different background to talk against than anything. Still, she took in the sights and sounds and gently twirled around to see if she could get them all at once.
She received her number and put it in her pocket along with her most portable companion, the helix fossil. As if asked to look at everything, she held the fossil up for it to get a decent view of what was going on around them.
She grinned and nodded, going to put the presents up first. She had to crouch so she didn't show anything inappropriate, but managed to get them all under the tree.
Then, she returned to the table to set up the cookies, humming a Christmas Carol to herself.
"That's cool," she says as she works, glancing to the younger girl and her fossil. "What is that? If I may ask, of course."
Lucien planned to spend Christmas proper at home - actual home, not his pod. Christmas was a day he did no Paradigm work whatsoever, the only exception might be if and when full scale war with the Empire finally broke out again. That said, Christmas Eve was another matter, and since when was he one to miss a party? He could afford a few hours at least! He'd spent so much time plastering those fliers after all, and telling everybody he could about the party!
With a booming laugh and a pat on the back that he just barely held back so as not to knock Rhett flat on his face, Lucien entered the hall proper, taking a look around at everything!
Jan Di would arrive wearing a sweater covered in pompoms. It was the most festive thing she owned, unfortunately.
Upon seeing Rhett and Lucien interacting however, she presses her back against the wall and starts shuffling towards the other side of the room against it.
Guess she'd have to face this all pretty early in the night. Jan Di never really stated any preference towards signs of affection. She's awkward either way.
"Yeah. It's pretty great." she says neutrally, her eyes darting between Josh and Rhett.
Oh, another person interested in the fossil! She addresses both Evelyn and Murdoch, both strangers now acquaintances.
"This fossil is my friend. I can talk to all sorts of things, you see. He, or I think it's a he, helped me gather up the courage to ask to join Paradigm. He's very wise. He has a silly side too, when he feels like it. He has a knack for all kinds of voices and personalities."
