It's like their own version of the birds, but with less eye pecking!
Rebecca ignores the unimpressed bird with an equally unimpressed expression. She's curious to see if there are any crows closer to Matt and his shadowy target than just above them at the bean.
While the trapped crow hovers in its portal prison, cawing angrily, this is as far as Eric gets before he hears more fluttering wings. Another crow lands on his shoulder, dips its beak into his ear and nabs his comm!
Some of the gathered citizens turn to stare at Murdoch as he yells at a bird! The crow looks him square in the eye and shakes its head, refusing his demand.
Unimpressed Bird flies over and perches right on Becca's head, as if in a show of dominance. Or just trying to irritate her. It now counts as closer to Matt and his target! There aren't any crows on ground level, but she spots several on lamp posts or benches.
"Even animals?" Schall's eyes dart around the underside of the bean, and he tries to conceal his alarm as he spots Becca with a bird on her head! Lowering his voice, he tries to ignore the crow staring at him and focus on Matt. "This is an odd request, but I need you to stay within ten feet of me, and keep your voice down. I have a power, one that can keep us from being listened in on - for a time, at least."
Unimpressed Bird's response to Becca's shooing is to start pecking the top of her head!
"Crows? That is worse news than you would believe. For us both, Agent Stevenson." Schall goes pale, muttering to himself, before resolving to get to the point. "My power is the ability to create a 'dead zone' up to ten feet across in all directions from myself. Nothing outside the field can monitor anything inside the field - anything they see or hear, they forget, any electronic recordings fail. As far as I know it even works on telepaths. It takes great focus, though, and people get suspicious if I leave it up too long. But if I use it, here and now, we can talk."
He looks side to side, as if checking if any birds are there! "The being that attacked your agents underneath my prison is watching us right now, through those crows. That's why I wanted to use my power."

Bird brought its fate upon itself. Rebecca reaches up, grabbing the bird by the legs and jerking sharply to remove it from its perch.
"Such a cute little birdie," she coos as she holds onto it, keeping it at arms length for now. "Does birdie want a hug?" She's not letting go if she sees red eyes.
Okay, if he can't get word to the others then he was going to need to make a judgement call. He'd open up a portal under his feet and the other agents and the targets to drop them all into the Nexus, closing the portals behind them as soon as they were through.
Everyone lands in the Nexus! This includes a very alarmed-looking Schall, and some of the crows, led by the one Becca tossed into the air. They circle overhead, cawing ominously as Schall looks around in a near-panic.
Some crows are portalled away, some are chopped up as they fly into the edges when the portals open up, disappearing into inky smoke! A few others dodge, and after a couple passes overhead to see the whole group together, scatter off into the distance to explore the Nexus!
"All realities?" Schall pales at the implications, still looking all around.
"What? I made a call... This is as private as it gets, they won't even notice we are gone. But we should make it quick, cause it's super dangerous here."
That seems like a good idea to Schall, who tries to smooth himself down, regain some dignity.
"Quick. Right. Then right to the point: I know exactly what is going on under my prison, but it is not under my orders, and I cannot do anything about it. I am a figurehead, a hostage in my own facility."
Becca's playing guard as she listens to whatever Schall has to say. She's heard about the giant killer robot adventure, both here and the one Eric and Matt ran into.
