An hour later, Matt finds himself in Millennium Park on a pleasant Chicago evening! There's quite the crowd around, and none of them seem to notice the strangely high number of crows overhead, or perched on lamp posts. As Matt walks, many of the birds turn their heads to watch where he goes.
There's several people at Cloud Gate, but he can catch a quick glimpse of someone standing directly underneath the sculpture looking out and ducking back, as if checking for something!
Eric notices some of the crows are on his rooftop, mostly on the edge! Some are just chilling, being crows, some seem to be watching the park. Two turn and just... stare at him. Endlessly. With beady, blood-red eyes.
Rebecca has a view of Matt approaching the bean, but not whomever is under it!
Where is Murdoch in relation to Matt?
When Matt gets close enough, he sees Schall peek out! He gestures for Matt to approach, looking around hurriedly, before abruptly ducking back out of sight.
Matt approaches carefully, mindful of the gun on his hip under his jacket. It was nice to be able to heal, but it was nicer to not willingly walk into traps.
It's the bean, so Rebecca is looking right at it! She just can't see Schall because he's standing directly underneath it, in a position that's covered by the sculpture from her vantage point.
The crows that're just chilling and being crows fly off, cawing in annoyance at Eric! The ones watching the park stay where they are, though. So do the staring ones. Unmoving, unblinking. One tilts its head and starts looking him up and down.
Murdoch doesn't see Schall, but he does see Matt approach the bean!
Matt sees Schall once he steps under the statue, and the warden gives him a nod.
"That's me, though I'm afraid I don't know your name." Schall seems to give him an analytical once-over, before checking behind Matt for any followers. "Smart of you to bring a gun, but I hope you won't need it tonight."
Rebecca pushes herself off of the wall and walks away, trying to get a better look at who or what is at the base of the bean besides Matt. She's pretending to look for a garbage or recycling bin.
Eric frowns but holds off and keeps his binoculars trained on Matt as he moves under the bean since surely one of them had to have a vantage point to see under it.
Cloud Gate's arch is twelve feet high, so after a bit of repositioning Rebecca can see someone standing in the shadows, talking to Matt! There's not a clear look at his face, but she can at least see somebody is there.
Murdoch doesn't see a lion, but he does notice crows perched on top of the bean! Some are looking at him, some at Rebecca.
While Eric looks through the binoculars, he hears the ruffle of feathers. There's more crows up there with him, now.
"The Director didn't tell you why you were coming here?" Schall looks a little suspicious!
