After she had calmed down about the announcement, taking a hot shower that scalded her skin, she dressed herself in her usual attire and left her Pod, wringing her fingers together as she made her way to Doctor Makalia's office.
She knocked softly, the same knock she usually did on Jack's.
"Oh, sure..." she smiles weakly, moving out of the way.
"Don't think I'm rude, but I'll need to sit down...right now..." she says somewhat apologetically, leaving the girl at the door so she can sit down and fan herself.
The moment Abby asked for water, she was gone from her side to get her a drink.
"None too happy, then, hmm?" she asked, trying to make her chuckle, or at least relax. She poured the water and then was quick to the good doctor's side.
"Can I help? I mean, I don't... I don't really know anything about... you know... But I could... If there's something I can do, I'll do it."
Is there a bucket or a trash can around? If so, Evie goes the grab that as well, bringing it back to hold it under her, moving to lightly rub her hand between her shoulder blades.
At the laughter, Evie seemed to relax a bit. Laughter, she knew. Laughter, she was comfortable with.
"I just... I came to see how you were handling the announcement. And to say that I'm... I'm staying. And I'm going to help you out around here, and with the kids. If you'll let me."
And even if she didn't want her help. She had, after all, promised Jack.
"I don't know if I could ever ask you to do that..." she admits. Not because she doesn't trust her with her children, but more that it's an uncomfortable request for her. Even though it was offered.
Far be it for her to bring someone down right now. She was pretty sure she was going to have a lot of visitors soon, and considering everything, she wasn't sure she'd have time to meet with everyone. A little optimism was welcome.
