Nate walked into the room stretching and yawning. Paradigm was a nice place, maybe Mr. Amtrum could clarify a few more things for him. At least where what the hell was going on was concerned. Maybe even show him a neat trick or two.

"Pretty simple really, I'm going to bring magic and wonder back to the world. People don't have hope, or awe anymore. I'm going to show them that this world is a good place, and that hope isn't ever lost." Nate smiled toward Mathew.
"What about you, what do you hope to accomplish?" He asked the Instructor in his normal friendly tone.
Nate just stood there watching him for a moment before speaking. "No matter how dour your expression, it doesn't change things. Not for the better at least."
Nate walked toward him, that same confident relaxed walk that he'd had earlier. "I'm going to be Merlin, and everyone else is going to be Lancelot and Arthur. And we're going to save the world."
He stopped just a few feet away from Mathew, smiling warmly.

Nate stumbled back, clutching at his stomach with his left hand. His smile never left his face, still as honest and genuine as the first time they'd met.
"Well, that hurt." He commented, his voice strained as he tried to catch his breath.
Having no presence of mind, nor accurate understanding of the abilities, Nate is laid out flat on his back, but rolls to avoid further attack, focusing on getting his feet under him.
"That, also hurt." He was still smiling, his hair a bit wild from the fall.
Leif had been invited to the Tutorial but she was a bit late. She could hear the fighting going on from inside so she moved carefully and quietly towards the door, peeking inside to see what was going on. Sapphire eyes lit up with excitement, but she didn't join the fray.
Nate stood up looking at Mathew with an odd mix of confusion and a bit of pain. "Ya know, you know what's goin on, and I don't... So..."
Nate took off at a run again, avoiding any straight line toward the earthly fellow. Instead of walls appearing all around them, it was mirrors, and not one of them was straight, each mirror was warped in such a way as to distort depth perception and visual awareness.
"Let's make this fair." He smiled again, running was tough, but he wouldn't have to keep doing so for long.
Nate stopped running, keeping himself as still as he could, thinking over the options he had to overcome Amtrum. With nothing specific coming to mind he spoke.
"What should I hope to accomplish? If my goals aren't lofty enough for you?" He asked, he had marbles, cards, invisible line, and a pocket full of loose coinage.
Marbles, it was one of the only options he had, with a quick push of mental strength, marbles started shooting out of the mirrors, that seemed to open and close with each shot. Nate was busy moving himself to a better position, behind the stone man, dropping marbles as he moved, keeping his steps and the marbles in time. He only needed one.
Mathew's eyes would track Nate through the illusions from his footsteps this time sending a sharp spike shooting upward for his left thigh as he tried to circle around Mathew.
Nate moved, but not fast enough, the spike tearing a long ugly line up his calf. Nate kept moving as he hissed in pain, so close, invisible wire between three fingers, marble in his opposite hand. Just need the one! Nate continues to try and get behind Mathew, no longer bouncing marbles off the floor.
If he'd make it behind or near enough to Mathew's blind sides, he'd hurl the marble at him in one motion, throwing the invisible wire with the other. The marble was the distraction, the wire was the garrote. If the wire looped his throat, he'd pull taunt, trying to choke the stone man into submission.
Leif rolled her eyes at the trick. She was impressed that he managed to keep moving despite the pain, but that was about as far as her positivity for him went.
She continued to idly pick at her nails with a scalpel.
Mathew just kept turning with the vibrations of the footfalls and while the Marble would hit him he'd strike out toward where Nate should be with his knee!
Nate would take the blow to the stomach, gasping out, he'd never taken a hit before today, surprisingly enough, he was just willful enough to not collapse from the blow. Instead of looping the line around his throat, he'd try to loop it around the back of his neck and pull, trying to headbutt Mathew in the bridge of his nose.
