He'd swing again, but this time the bat would lengthen into a staff for unexpected range as he tried to sweep her off her feet! If she fell he'd attempt to follow up by slamming the staff down into her as hard as he could.
Her face betrayed her shock and he managed to get her feet out from under her. She grunted with the effort and threw the third section of the staff, hoping to use it to avoid the hit so she could roll away, hopefully buying enough time to get her feet back.
She gasped and managed to get her feet back under her. Excitement showed across her face and she backed off again, hoping he would come after her again.
Sarah knew her strengths. If she could stay defensive, she might be able to manage something.
Free shot? She stared at him for a moment trying to figure out if he really meant it. She took another step back, giving Mike a single nod.
Then, she launched forward, moving as fast as she possibly could. She pushed her speed as much as she could muster and used her momentum to bring down the staff, holding two of the pieces together to make it thicker.
True to his word Mike doesn't even move to mitigate the blow allowing to hit him wherever he chose. The force of the blow was enough to crack the wood of the staff but the steel underneath would hold! his shield still stood and he didn't so much as wince, but she'd see what looked to be almost a spiderweb of cracking where the staff had struck.
"My turn then."
He'd just go to punch her square in the nose as hard as he could with his aura shielded fist.
The sound of the wood cracking and the sight of the shield's spiderweb pattern distracted her. She didn't think that Mike would swing at her. So, she didn't have any defenses up. He managed to hit her right in the nose and it audibly cracked.
Just like the wood.
She stumbled backwards with a gasp, but didn't even try to staunch the blood-flow. When she looked at him again, her eyes were wild as the pain really started to set in.
Her feet slipped into a defensive stance and she broke out into a crooked smile. Her thoughts were swirling and... Mmf. Well then.
She jolted forward and went to hit his shield in the exact same spot.
The pain brought her and her power into perfect sync, something that didn't happen often, and the world moved slowly around her. It gave her time to respond and react.
As he dropped, she turned and attempted to helicopter the sectional staff against his leg. OBVIOUSLY that would work, right?
Which meant he would probably manage to get her on the ground again.
The staff would hit! But still no damage was inflicted, nor did the spider webbing spread from the leg blow. If she dropped through he'd attempt to lunge onto her for a grapple.
There was a wash of pain as it crossed over her and every muscle exhausted itself at once. She could have sworn she screamed but no sound left her mouth.
Mike would roll off of her and take a moment to look at her face. The nose didn't look to bad, so he'd just chill out next to her and wait for her to wake back up in a few minutes.
