"I'm glad you asked." Josh goes over to a dresser and starts pulling out paper after paper and tossing it behind him.
"The empire might have stopped us in an official capacity, but I for one don't plan on stopping. But it's pretty shitty here, right? So first thing we need is some funds. So..."
He pulls out a picture, slaps it on the table and points.
"Sorry to disappoint Josh. My manbits are just for the ladies."
He'd say with a wink, feeling a little better now that he was joking around a little.
"But seriously, the guy sounds like he wouldn't fall for a Honeypot. He'd dive into it. But is that really okay? I mean, treating him like a mark to scam?"
He frowned, obviously hesitating and waffling on it. If things were as bad as they seemed, they needed the money. And Paradigm helped a lot of people. Countless people. And the world needed them more now than ever.
Speaking of someone who could rock it, a wild Rebecca appears! She's clutching her phone pretty tightly, like she's not sure if she trusts herself not to throw it out of frustration.
Whatever she's muttering under her breath stops along with the rest of her when she realizes she's not alone in the room and, more importantly, who else is there. She starts to greet Josh, but catches sight of who the senior agent brought along and stares at Eric like a champ, the wheels slowly turning in her head that she's probably not imagining this. Probably.
"Appeal to the public and the Government? How long have we been serving them? Now we need saving. Surely they will have our backs like we had theirs!"
Part of him even believed it. He frowned slightly when Rebecca spoke up and made her presence known, and he felt far more aware of the pain in his arm when she did.
"Well I was in Chicago... until I was suddenly in California..."
Technically he could have just ripped open a portal and hopped back, but he was still trying to not use his powers... And his phone had gotten fried when he tried to electrocute the attacker... And he didn't have her number memorized.
"God help the person who is," Rebecca muttered at Josh's remark. She certainly didn't want to sign up for that gig. She should probably be concerned about what ideas they're talking about. It's probably one that they've been worrying about since Paradgim got destroyed again. She shakes her head, focusing on the answer Eric gives her for the moment instead. Darkness looks like it wants to invade the motel room.
"Suddenly in California? How in the world do you end up suddenly in California?"
The shrug was really all that needed to be said on the matter. As much as she had hoped Eric would have some explanation other than what she expected, Rebecca knew it wasn't really worth putting hope into. Not that he had ever sworn off completely abstaining from his powers, but...well, she worried.
She walked over to Eric and hugged him by his good side, and wound up staring at Josh instead as he brought the train of thought back to their more pressing purpose: money. The phrasing caused her to stare at the older like he'd grown a second head.
He'd put his arm around her when she gave him a hug on his good side, happy that this didn't end in a fight! That totally meant he was off the hook! Right?
"So it's either an old movie star or the government?" It really didn't take much to guess which one Rebecca though they had a better chance with, even though she wrinkled her nose at the mention of Markus. Dude got around, and when you're homebound, entertainment becomes a hunt.
"Aren't you the senior agent who's supposed to look out for us? Why aren't you taking one for the team?"
