Barrow, Alaska is nearing their annual month long polar night. Many people travel or shut themselves in, not wanting to deal with the constant cold and darkness. However, a different darkness has been plaguing the town in the month prior.
A total of five people have now gone missing, left as open cases but attributed to animal attacks. The House of Scribes believers otherwise though which leads Valencia to be landing in the small town the same time most people are leaving.
She's staying at a local motel that has a total of like three guests based on the cars in the parking lot.
After talking to someone she could discern that really the only things left open are the local bar and convenience store. Besides the Sheriff and doctor of the town everyone else has shut down for the month it seems.
Both the sheriff AND the doctor are gone? Wow. Time to check out the convenience store for possible tabloids, then she'll hit up the bar once she has enough material.
Sheriff and doctor are still here, most everyone else left!
She finds some local articles about the polar month, vandalism out by the woods and the steel mill lay offs. She also sees a few missing posters plastered up.
"Deputy Davis. Sheriff went on vacation like most, not much going on save for the bear attacks. But if you're that set on it I can point you in the same direction as I did to those last guys. Old Dale is our resident hunter. If it's an animal in the woods, he's seen it."
It's nearer to the woods then most the other homes, about a five minute drive out of town. Other than that it looks normal. A few acres of land, a pick up truck in the driveway and probably a couple of bedrooms.
