Kidd enters the arena with a sweater on. Whether or not her wound was healed by magic drinks or by Gil fixing it in some way, she was still hiding her skin.
She glares up at where Shinji usually is, looking really annoyed before switching her gaze to Artorias.
Through it all, Artorias has said nothing. He's barely reacted, instead watching with naked interest at the fact that the person who had seemed so gung-ho on winning had suddenly changed her mind on even participating any further.
However, once she points at him, Artorias just smiles back.
"I'm afraid I have plans of living past this point. However, I will give you the courtesy you deserve."
Artorias' eyes widen a little at the ease she moves the mace, but he throws himself forward and to the side, aiming to both close the distance as well as dodge the attack in the same motion.
He reaches forward with his hand, looking to pie-face her with the palm of it before violently pushing her back and downwards, intending on slamming her head into the floor of the arena should he manage to catch her.

She blinks with a look of interest as she notes his swiftness. That wasn't something she wasn't used to per se, but using the mace did indeed slow her down.
The palm does in fact connect to her face, but with her hands still holding her heavy mace and the added benefit of her unnatural strength, he doesn't quite get her to fall down. One arm lets go of the pole, and Kidd would try to grab the back of his neck and pull him into a knee aimed for his gut.
The blow sends Artorias to his hands and knees, and he stays there for a moment, stunned.
Then, a heartbeat later, he spins on his hands and one leg, while kicking out with the other to attempt to strike Kidd in the stomach with a flaming red foot!
Kidd quickly finds that the flames don't burn, as rather, their energy has instead formed into kinetic power rather than heat!
However, Artorias quickly pushes himself to his feet, his composure clearly shaken. The calm, collected demeanor of his has given way to a look of surprise.
He admits, leaning back in a more crouching stance. His hands move in front of him, fingers open but curled into claws, while his weight is mostly balanced on his back leg.
Interesting! Fire would indeed be a problem for an air user, to some extent.
Still she lets her mace settle behind her as Artorias closes the distance, not moving from her spot but looking to duck underneath the palm.
Perhaps predictably, Kidd would look to swing her mace at him again despite how close he is, content with even just the pole hitting into him. She does so crouched, so it doesn't carry nearly the same power, but it's still not something you want to be struck with.
This is more of what the flame-wielder is used to.
Artorias turns with his evaded blow, spinning while still moving closer. At this point, Kidd would likely catch his waist with her wrists or forearms, hardly the same impact that even the pole would have given him.
The blonde continues his spin, then kneels, looking to catch Kidd on the top of her head with his elbow from his previously unused arm!
He knocks her in the head, causing it to whip forward. To keep from hitting the ground, she catches herself with one hand, taking a guess as to where he ends up as she sends her foot back in a donkey kick!
