The Shimmering Lights was an upscale restaurant in the heart of the city. The kind of place that you need a reservation for sixth months out if you plan on getting a seat at the table. That or you needed deep pockets, the kind of pockets that don't have holes in them either. But it was the meeting place that Mr. Pike Place had set up for them at Mr. Johnson's request.

The dress code was what one would expect for a place like this. Dresses and suits that were more expensive than a month's rent in the typical slum shithole and a plate cost enough that you could easily feed a family for a week with what you spend here. It was a place of lavish luxury, and the meeting place was clearly selected to give the client home field advantage.

Mr. Johnson as he opted to be called was a Human in his late thirties. Handsome and clean shaven with a well-fitted suit. He exuded a silent and calm confidence with his posture as he sat at the table waiting for the arrivals. A folder neatly sitting in front of him.

```Digit wrinkled her nose before ever setting foot on the same street as The Shimmering Lights. It was an obnoxious place, the kind you could dream of, but she could maybe afford in her dreams - or, preferably, with enough runs to pay for one night of luxury.
Swallowing the mental bitterness, she'd done what she could to look what could be called presentable if you weren't sleeping on mountains of cred sticks.  The kind with tons zeros before the decimal point.
Once inside, she'd glance around to see if anyone else really stood out with a bit of curiosity. Who knew how long before someone came by to ask her what she wanted or told her to leave.
Her hair half up and half down that was how dressy she'd get while the rest of her attire was a slim dress and a pair of flats. She'd wear her usual beaded and handmade jewelry. And her usual mask was not on as it seemed she was asked to take it off near the door. She had no decorative version that was practical so it was either get risk getting sick and take the job or be healthy and not get paid. She needed to get paid.
She looked around with her different colored eyes and spotted a lone man who looked to be waiting for someone. Her approach was made in slow strides searching the room for more clues or additional "distractions". Once in a while a call like this was coveted as a trap in a public place and she more than anything did not want to get caught. But the advantage seemed to be her own, she could see plenty of unsuspecting and none expecting gazes that would comfort her.
Both Faythe and Digit earned themselves glances as they clearly did not fit in with the rest of the patrons of this establishment. The manner of dress was one thing, but the simple way that they held themselves marked them as other.
As far as Faythe could tell this was no trap, there did not seem to be anyone armed and waiting to ambush her from the cursory glance around the establishment. And it was not even twenty seconds after standing around that Digit was confronted with a beautiful waitress flashing her a well-practiced smile.
"Is there anything I can help you with today, Ma'am?"
The idea of anyone calling her ma'm was hilarious, but thankfully Digit knew how to keep the laughter to herself as the waitress came over. She kept her smile polite in return and kept their conversation as brief as possible.
"Yes, I'm looking for a Mr. Johnson."
While the other woman who was not more than noted in Faythe's peripheral she had already made her way to the Man's table and all ready to get down to business. Coming close she had her good customer service gentle grin, standing on the far side of the table from Mr. Johnson. A slender hand placed itself upon her own hip and leaned in its direction.
"You the one who called about needing my services?" Professional or Coy? The hope to keep the discretion made her sound like she was a classy call girl in this particular setting. It was with intention and was a card she'd play regularly.
The waitress gave the Dwarf a small pressing of her lips together with an inaudible click of her tongue she'd motion for Digit to follow her.
"Of course." The waitress would reply dryly. "Follow me." She'd continue as she leads Digit to the table that Faythe was standing before.
If Faythe's demeanor rubbed him the wrong way he didn't show it on his face. He'd simply stand as the ladies approached his table and motioned for them to both sit across from him.
"Thank you." He'd say dismissing the waitress before turning to the others. "Please have a seat."
He'd wait for them to both sit before sitting himself.
"And yes, I represent a client that has a job for people with skills such as yours. Though your discretion is of course expected."
He'd wait to hear if they had any objections.
Digit kept the smile, though it grew more obvious she wasn't feeling it as the waitress fussed over the nature of her visit. It seemed they felt about the same for each other. Still, it was a way to make money and to make being pretty work for you without being a corporate slave.
She took in the presence of their middle man, taking a seat when he directed with about as much ease as could be expected and nodding at the mention of discretion.
"Of course. Her focus was on him, waiting for the big reveal on what he hired them for. What she'd be getting paid for at the end of the day. The woman who was already at the table seemed the type to be prepared, thankfully.
she took her own seat an remained quiet. She gave him a silent nod to agree with the privacy terms and patiently awaited his instruction. her gloved fingers rested on the table folded into each other neatly in front of her. She looked over to the company she was with. Another for hire and possibly for the same job. She was already scoping her out wondering how they might create a battle plan based on her basic amount of experience with the Shadowrunning. However the sickly woman knew not to underestimate the next person but to her, this other in the seat looked to be quite young for the job.
She turned her attention back to Mr. Johnson awaiting his word.
"Wonderful."
His face remained expressionless as he turned the folder to face them.
"It is a simple extraction job of stolen property."
He'd open the folder to show a large glossy photo of a cow in a field.
"Bessy here was stolen last week by fringe and radicalized animal rights organization. The kidnapping resulted in the death of two security guards. Your job is to recover our property intact. Additionally, we desire for you to probe their compound's computer systems for anything that can lead us to how they found the location of Bessy and anything else pertinent to the incident. The file has the location of their compound thanks to a tracking chip inside of Bessy. Are there any questions?"
Wait, what? For a moment, all Digit could do was blink. They were going to just...kindly steal back a kidnapped cow. And the information digging. That, she could handle, though the fact that there were no other last minute arrivals meant she was working it alone with the white haired woman beside her. She glanced at the other runner, taking in her appearance a little more seriously now that she knew this was the only assistant she'd have keeping her safe while in the Matrix.
Still, the information they were given made it seem simple enough. Get the cow, avoid the emphatic animal lovers, do a little digging...oh yes, she could definitely do that.
"Where do you want us to bring her once Bessy's secured?"
Given what she had to work with and him asking if we had any questions. It was not the how it was getting bessy to transport and such she could already figure out how that can be accomplished it was the information portion that he wanted that she would go ahead and assume to wonder if the... now coworker... had her own skills in the field. It would not be uncommon of course in this day and age a Mage such as Faythe was an uncanny thing to come by.
She spoke to the girl "The where is necessary absolutely, I also want to ask you your name and if you have enough experience to get the information that he needs? Should we get that securing the payload should not be too difficult on my end and I can cover your back if you can work quickly." She sounded stern with the way she phrased that, making a mental likely hood of success with as few people as fortune was willing to give us. Security was paramount to sell her on whether or not to take the job.
He would turn to the next page in the folder which would show a map of the area with a spot on the Puget Sound circled.
"We will have a boat waiting for you there. Ensure that you are not followed."
Blink.
At first, Digit kept her focus on their runner, nodding as he flipped the page and revealed the map showing where they would be headed. As expected, there was a planned way out, and if something other than that needed to be worked in, well...they'd worry about that if it happened. She made a note of the area and any landmarks that might be named there as well.
"Understood." She turned her attention to the other runner and gave a lopsided smile as she took on the questions that were thrown her way in a clipped manner.
"Darling, I'm good at all sorts of things." The kind she would not be advertising in public, and certainly not in a place that would cost more for one night than she'd make in a few lifetimes. "We can have a chat after we're done here." And figure out what they were going to do to get this done.
She'd see if the white-haired woman had any other questions.
With a nod, it was confirmed and agreed with Digit and another to Mr. Johnson for extra measure. A change in the winds stirred her gut. Another day, another pay... a good motto to have indeed it was not like he wanted us to steal the crown jewels; just a cow and some intel. With her trust in her temporary new partner, they'd be concluding what business would be had.
She took once more look at what information was given including and especially information on Bessy. She had a feeling that would be her main payload, being a mage she has very little to do with technology and computers but it did not lack versatility and security. She can already see the ideas forming from plan A and continuing as they'd run into factors and obstacles. Needless to say, Faythe was absolutely ready.
"Accepted"
For the first time in the meeting, Mr. Johnson allowed himself the smallest hint of a smile as he turned his attention back to the Dwarf now that the Human had accepted.
"And you? Any other questions or concerns?"
With the other woman silent, Digit took up the reigns again and nodded.
"How soon do you need this done?" She tucked a piece of pink and brown hair behind her ear as she regarded their Johnson. It was just a cow, sure, but you never knew what could be time sensitive.
Faythe had assumed details like that were in the mission assessment since usually, the employer prefers such discretion and that calls for minimal open explanation and interaction. Should it not be in the objective she wondered what he'd not be telling us she decided to look over the papers they were given just once more should she notice something she hadn't before.
"The relevant information is in the file. I assure you."
The file would have information on how many members they could expect in the compound. Which was about twelve. It detailed that the boat would be in the pick up location from 5PM to 6PM tomorrow evening. There were also two other photos of reference for the cow. Just in case the first picture was not enough for them.
Digit nodded, glancing at the file while her companion looked over the paperwork. She'd take a closer look after the other woman was done. For now, though, it sounded like they had all they needed. She's assuming Bessy looks normal and there's no fun-shaped markings on her unless the photos show otherwise.
"Alright, we'll be there." Time to go. Digit stood, all her other questions answered in the file, and more than happy to be going.
Faythe looked to Digit and laid down all the information she'd be finished looking through at the moment. Pausing only to ask her one more question.
"Would you like to discuss the Run beforehand, likely not here of course but a rendezvous point? I'd like to keep communications open should we have to adjust for one another."
With their agreement, he'd nod and stand up motioning for them to stay seated. He'd leave the file with them.
"I shall allow you to work out the details as you see fit. The table is yours and reception have been instructed to add your meals to my tab. I look forward to a mutually beneficial business transaction."
Offering the ladies a small bow, a hand placed over his heart he would take his leave.
Well if it was on the house....
Digit agrees to the meal that's on offer. Real, delicious food. Not that sad flavored soy she was used to. She may or may not have chosen to eat something that may have been Bessy's long lost second cousin.
She's not sure if the other woman would stick around, but she does provide a meeting place! It's in the slums, but she was used to it and could jack in if needed.
Suppose here is as good as anywhere she gave him a farewell glance and places fingers on her lips to remove them outward as a sign language thank you. She hardly knew much from the language but that she did and since her days working for a hospital it became a habit that fit her lifestyle of few words.
This answered her first question the next would come just as quickly. "What is your name?"
