Mathew's office was decorated fairly sparsely. Having the necessities of what he required. A desk, a computer, and several chairs for visitors. The chairs were made of oak wood with a simple red cushion on each one. Mathew himself had a fairly simple leather computer chair for himself. Though his desk had a gravel top, and the walls had a layer of stone over them giving the impression that his office was in another building.
If you even really DESERVE to be called one! I am emailing you to complain about your so called training session! Do you have any idea how unethical and dangerous your method was?! Were you trying to kill me?! You could have killed me!
I am very, very, very displeased by this form of CARELESSNESS from a faculty member and mark my words I will be REPORTING THIS ASAP.
I also forgot to mention how ABHORRENT it was to try and cause me discomfort by using THAT MANGLED LOOKING THING. Do you even know how horrifying this was?! This was supposed to be a training exercise to test my skills not TRIGGERING ME with that sort of GORE. You realize I am but a minor right?! Do you have any shred of decency!? And then you KILLED HIM. AND DID I MENTION TRIED TO KILL ME?!
It's how I can't understand how you were ever hired?! How did you make it past any security checks you psychotic maniac!? Did you somehow lie on your resume?! Why would any of the directors ever let you through these doors!? You can bet I will be asking them this! Mark my words I will also cook up a surprise for YOU.
Mathew clicks through the flood of emails. Blinking at the sheer amount of them coming from one of the students. Letting out an amused grunt he'd simply mark them all as spam without reading them. Though he did appreciate the fan mail.
Rebecca enters, shutting the door behind. Her shoulders are tense, but she seems thoughtful rather than pensive.
"Sorry if I'm interrupting anything, Mr. Amtrum. Do you have a moment?" Yeah, she's still mostly polite to staff unless you're Matt, but that's besides the point.
That wasn't off putting or anything. She takes another step into the room, both uncomfortable and at ease with the fact that about the only thing she can really do harm to is Matthew himself. It felt like breathing clean air after being stuck underground
"I was hoping you'd have time to train with me." She folds and unfolds her arms, recalling the past couple weeks. There'd been the fight with Arman, and that hadn't gone as expected. There'd also been the training mission with the robots, which conveniently had the concrete to work with. Granted, that sort of setup could happen in real life, and she had taken out two of the robots, but she was left painfully aware of her shortcomings in the situations.
That, and people kept asking questions that left her wondering, as well.
The question had been one she'd spent time thinking of, herself. She knew her ability was to invoke, not control. They had rough estimates of how long different materials took to decay, as well as which ones didn't at all. It didn't feel like enough.
"Flexibility," she responds with little pause, holding his gaze as she ticks off her reasons on one hand, still taking up as little space as possible. "Accuracy. I need to be able to work with what I have and be able to under pressure, rather that hold back because I'm worried or overthinking it."
Her sigh comes out closer to a huff. It feels like he's expecting her to have more reasons, rather than waiting for her to voice them. She pauses for another moment, hesitating, then takes a death breath and continues.
"I also need to find someone willing to teach me how to use a gun." Her lips twist into a grimace as she recalls shooting Murdoch in the leg by mistake. "Powers or not, I don't want to screw up and hurt my teammates by mistake." Again.
