Leaving the infirmary, Piper felt on top of the world. She was perfectly in sync with her power, her arm was sore and weak but out of the cast, which was good enough for her in that moment.
She slipped outside of the Academy and stretched her arms above her head, a joyous look across her face. Nothing could bring her down.
Anger flared, immense and sudden, the moment she saw that stupid kid walking by her. And he even had the audacity to speak. She narrowed her eyes and looked past him, purposefully, to catch sight of Silas.
As if making a point, she strolled past Mike and over to the stranger, cocking a brow. "Can I help you?" She asked, though there was humor in her tone.
Speaking of girls, there's Rebecca! She's coming in from the main building, though, and apparently focused on wherever her thoughts are leading her rather than the fun Piper's getting ready to head into. At least, until she sees the shock of green hair...and who it is that's nearby.
"Who are you?" She responded, though there was no aggression in her voice. She glanced at Rebecca, who could have felt the question was directed her way.
Rebecca stopped at the question, indeed believing it was directed towards her. She looked up at the girl with the brightly colored hair and blinked, discovering there was still a bit of an audience. She's not entirely sure she wants to be a part of this conversation.
The strange female answered up, and for some reason, Piper figured she must be possessive of the boy. She cocked a brow and a little smirk touched her lips. Well, then.
"My energy readings, hmm?" She asked, motioning to the girl to show she was harmless. "What are they telling you?"
"Your resting heart rate is dangerously low or so it would appear. Based on your breathing pattern I think you're in excellent cardiovascular condition, a speedster if I was to hypothesize. That, or just very unimpressed to see me." He winks at her with a smile, gauging Rebecca in his peripherals.
Rebecca's expression deadpans at the interactions between Silas and the other girl. Her expression doesn't go unnoticed, but Rebecca doesn't feel like telling her off for making assumptions about her or anyone else.
"That makes two of us," she mutters under her breath, already starting to leave. This is not something she wants to see.
Piper made no motion to try and stop her, hands falling to her sides. If the girl was offended, then she'd have to deal with that later. She was far more interested in Silas.
"Long distance or short bursts?" She asked, curious to see how much he could tell.
When Rebecca turns to go, Piper can see Silas look at her an extra second before turning back to her question.
"Short bursts."
His guess had nothing to do with her vitals, super speed in general would lower her resting heart rate when not in activity. The fact she brought up the distinction is what tipped him in favor of his answer.
"It really depends." She gave a slight shrug and, with that, disappeared from his view. She would seem to reappear at his side rather suddenly. "I can move faster short distances, but I can still go pretty long distances."
She, too, glanced at Rebecca, who seemed to disappear. Whatever. She'd find her later.
"I haven't tested it too far," she admitted nonchalantly, staying in her position. "Things get a bit blurry when I move that fast, but usually, they just seem to stand still and vibrate."
