This guy was all over the place! Petty crime, terrorism, and now saving the world/s? She leans forward, engrossed in the file as she reads more, trying to see what else there is.
It seemed that after that incident he negotiated a deal with Paradigm. To sign up as an Agent working with them in exchange for the release of his fellow terrorists. The deal was agreed upon. Two of them defected. One of them, Bastille Cunningham died two years later with the birth of one Evelyn Amtrum.
There are some reports from several doctors that reported that he was closing off emotionally, more than normal. And refused to talk about the incident.
Rebecca marks her place with one finger and flips back to the front of the file, comparing names and dates. That explained a lot. Her heart softens for a moment; despite being a terrorist and needing time to digest that Paradigm hired him anyway, it did explain a few things. Not that she'd bring them up: she liked her organs in their current places instead of being shishkabob'd.
Seems that he spent some time as a field agent and lead a few very sucessful and pivitol strikes against the Empire in Europe. He also helped bring down a Meta group that had been creating objects with Meta powers.
About Ten Years ago Mathew became the power specialist trainer for Paradigm, taking off of field duty as his daughter got older.
It seemed three years ago he went back on a mission with his daughter where he was severely injured. His arm reduced to ash and his daughter was KIA.
"Uh...huh." It's a mix of affirmative and also her general response to what she's reading. Blinking, Rebecca shakes her head and sits back. She exhales slowly before looking to see if there's anything else as she addresses Piper.
"A lot of anythings. It'd probably be easier for you to read the file." If there's nothing else, she'll hand it over to Piper. If there is, she'll finish it first.
A brow cocked at the response. She would move to start organizing the files she had, having read most, and set the ones she still needed to read to one side. Namely, Aaron's father, Angel's, and Rebecca's.
Rebecca goes over Evelyn's file next, but there's not a whole lot to go on since she died in action. A student with a B average, maybe a bit higher. Social. Daughter of Matthew and Bastille Amtrum.
She closes the file and stares at it, lost in thought over Matthew's file more than this one. The worst part is that this could be any of them at any time - a blip of a name on a file, forgotten until someone got curious or nosy.
"Do me a favor, Podmate," she called, still reading over the file and all of the information. "If you're going to study up on everyone, leave me out of it, yeah?"
She flipped the page, giving a shake of her head as she went over everything. Damn, Mat. Impressive.
"Mhmmm." Rebecca hands over the requested file without complaint. There hadn't been much to work with, there. Maybe that was for the best.
She eyes Silas's file for a moment, then sighs and opens it to give it a read. If she's going to even the playing field with him, she might as well start in ways that aren't going to get her in trouble with the school itself. She'd rather build the trust to get to the information, but the boy was a bit of a trip.
She took the file, looking over it briefly. There wasn't much to go off of... She died young, after all. She compared a few years between the files and furrowed her brows, then flipped back to Matthew's first page. She let out a soft hum, then went back to reading.
"I'm asking as somebody who lives with you, Mark. Leave me out of your studies." Her voice was crueler than she meant for it to be. If she needed to try and get that file removed, she would, but her secrets were just that: her own.
Then, with a sneer, she turned to look back at Rebecca... Somebody she had far more respect for than her Podmate.
"It's just interesting. With how many universes that are possibly out there... I wonder if he's actually from our future, or a separate future. And why did he feel the need to come back?"
"If you have questions, ask them. I'll answer them. But just... Let me have the rest, okay?" Once he agreed, she seemed to lighten her tone slightly, and even spared him a non-venomous glance. "We can train together, talk, whatever. That's fine."
She was terrified that her private file might somehow end up in the archives... And that wasn't a risk she was comfortable taking.
"No, it's definitely interesting." Rebecca nods, chin resting on her hand. "We don't know if this is the same person that was here originally, other than what the file tells us. I guess someone could as him in person." She sighs and leans back in her chair, staring at a nearby wall in thought.
"It depends on theory, I guess. There are some people who believe that there's a universe out there for every choice out there, including the ones we don't choose ourselves.
"Personally, I read it as that he came back from the future, but is still the same from this time. Just went there and came back."
