"Sort of. I think... I think I'll be okay, eventually. I think I need to stop running away... from who I am, from who I came from... and from that bastard. I think I just need to stop running."
She gave a shrug. Piper, Sarah, whoever she was... she was herself. She still struggled to know exactly who that was, but... she would learn.
"I'm excited to see what it is." She smiles at the touch, patting Piper's hand on her shoulder before straightening a little. She's fallen into the 'okay with touching' part, but extended touching is still something she's working on in general.
Rebecca blinks, trying to decide which one Piper was talking about.
"With Eric?" She doesn't know how Piper would know about either unless Eric told her, and there's no disgust in the other girl's voice, do it's probably not the one she had with Mike.
"It went well." She nodded with a sheepish smile. It had been a fun time until the end; remembering caused her cheeks to tinge pink, but she also frowned.
She actually gets to see Rebecca blush! The dark haired teen rubs her face with one of her hands and sighs, looking down at the ground as her hands moves to massage the back of her neck.
"We kissed. Twice." She grimaces. "My control over my power still isn't great." She tries to lighten the mood with a self-depreciating laugh. "Guess it's a good thing I'm the one girl who can be okay with a guy throwing up after they kiss her." She felt horrible, especially since Eric stuck out the second one for her. It was sweet, but not worth doing that to himself.
"So yeah, kind of ended on a blech note." A shrug. "Guess I'll just have to get used to this being what it is for now."
"It ending with him kissing you TWICE was bleh?" She asked with a laugh. She knew Rebecca's power, and she wasn't terribly concerned about it. Eric had tried not once, but twice. That was saying something, right?
"I'd love to see what a good ending is." She winked, before drinking more of her coffee. It was nice to just... be a girl. She hadn't really gotten her teenage years, so even if she was a little older than Rebecca, it felt like being a teenager.
The laughter turns into a giggle at the way Piper rephrases her words.
"Well, yes. But other than the whole 'suffering rot damage to the inside of your mouth,' it was a lot of fun! We went out to a fair. Rides, games, even tried at an elephant ear before we settled for snow cones." She smiled down at her cup at the memories, chuckling again.
"I won the little water gun game they have. I don't think he expected that."
She listened to the retelling of the night with a smile, her eyes gleaming with interest. She and Aaron had been on a few dates, but that aspect of life was so new to her.
And she had never been to a fair.
"What's an elephant ear?" She asked, honestly curious. She didn't mean to take away from the tale, but... the hell was that?
Her smile widens at the question. It's not the first time she's heard it, and wondered herself when she'd first heard it.
"It's another name for funnel cake, I think. Some say it's different, but it's essentially a huge one. You can get powdered sugar and stuff on them, too." She couldn't recall if it was on theirs or not since all she remembered was the taste of rot.
She shrugged, making a face before the laughter bubbled out of her. She couldn't help it. It seemed so funny to her. It was a stereotype she totally hadn't expected. After all, Australians fried a lot of things.
"Trust me, I'm sure there are weirder. We have something called snags back in Australia, and they're strange. Or, you know, you could sample our local animals. Crocodile, kangaroo, that kind of thing."
She winked. She had tried a few of the strange things she knew about, but when she finally got free of the oppressive church, usually late at night, she went after her favorites and rarely deviated.
"Never had crocodile, but we had a restaurant where I grew up that served alligator strips." Truth. "Don't know how I'd feel about eating a kangaroo, though. Or any meat from down under. It's bad enough here." She laughs quietly. This is why she doesn't do meat. Ever.
"Really? No meat? Because there are some awesome meat pies that they would sell on the streets. I'm sure you could find the recipe online and we could whip some up."
Which would probably take shopping and have to be for another day. But still.
"Nah," she nods, her grin turning brighter. "I'll get to the point where I can control it. But until then, we'll see if you're a lucky presence for me."
