Her voice is quieter when she speaks. "I think it would help if I knew what I wanted from him, or anyone else." She doesn't look at Silas this time, but looks ahead instead. Her posture doesn't take on any more defensive positions for the moment. "I would like to be exclusive with someone I like, but that may just be me. I knew when he took me out I wasn't likely to be the last. It's just who Eric is." She shrugs again, the words coming with difficulty. "It might upset me if we had gone out before I knew him beforehand, I think. It gave me an example of his own attitude and expectations." One would assume there would be a date involved, because random encounters offer a limited experience and I'm not going to promise my life away to interest alone." The observation is quieter than her other ones, but still audible. Turning as he does, Rebecca watches as Silas walks away, jerking her body upright when she feels herself taking that first step forward to follow him. She can feel the apology tear from her throat and die on her tongue, hands still in her pockets as she bites the inside of her cheek. Even now, she wants to apologize, to clarify. She wants to chase after that interest and see where it goes, especially after Silas has shown that he doesn't see her as just a calculated risk - through the risk is part of the thrill for him. She's seen and experienced someone who did so without caring about the risk, and though she doesn't expect anyone she may be committed to in the future to have that same standard, the memory is burned into her as much as Silas's own kiss on the roof was. Not to mention her response... But she had come to Paradigm to learn control, and maybe she could learn that for more than just her power. Not only that, but she'd escaped a situation at home that tore her apart day by day, and here? She'd already found people that were like her father. She found people he would call terrorist if he though they were meta, but the boy who was a human surrounded by them? Was the one who tried to blow up a friend. Who hated her friends and probably her as well now. As much as she saw the person behind the dickish behavior, was it worth tearing herself apart again just to prove it? What would even be left? She owed it to herself. Right? She closes her eyes with another deep breath, holding this one in until her chest ached and her lungs burned. She can already feel the regret trying to choke her and swallows it back.
