Oh thank gawd. She seemed visibly relieved for a moment as two of the Agents took cookies.
It was better than fighting.
"Stay around, yeah?" she said softly, mostly to Rhett, who seemed to be the one that wanted to leave. "There are all sorts of things planned. You wouldn't want to miss out just because of a squabble, right?"
Hopefully he didn't call her bluff. She smiled at him as if she knew what she was talking about, then turned to Josh and Lucien, offering her cookies.
She let out a relieved sigh, glad everybody seemed to be relaxing. She glanced over at Jan Di and Rhett, trying to discern if there was anything she needed to do.
After all, it was Christmas, and she wanted to keep everybody in good spirits!
Setting the cookies back down on the table, she took a steadying breath. One crisis averted.
Evie motioned towards the group and then put a finger to her lips, trying to hush Murdoch.
"Go ahead and have as many as you like. I baked them this morning, so they're still fresh."
She smiled at him, then at Fred, the little girl she had spoken to briefly when she had first arrived. She didn't really know much about the situation, but she knew that it was only a few hairs away from exploding. She had just calmed things down.
"I have no clue what's going on," she admitted quietly, trying not to speak above a whisper. "But it's a pretty volatile situation."
"Not much of a party without music and dancing." she shrugs at Lucien before giving Murdoch an awkward smile.
If there was one thing she wanted to let die, it was what just happened. Especially since she wasn't convinced it was over. Josh would come back....and then who knows. She doubts Rhett and him would be fine all of a sudden.
"Christmas can make some people a bit crazy." she waves it off, glancing at Rhett as if meaning no offense.
"Just don't...block Josh when he comes back. That'll make things worse if he thinks we're trying to keep him away. And I'm really not trying to do that."
Evie tried to smile at the two agents, giving a light shrug. She could be subtle, but she understood that they didn't know her. They didn't really know anything about her.
