Cookies, the apparent solution to all life's problems! The very notion is quite amusing, though he couldn't help a look of concern as she described Christmas as "rarely happy". What is Evie escaping by being here? Or did she mean something else? He takes the offered cookie with a grin and eats it in one big bite.
"These really are good. Thanks for bringing them."
He didn't ask, so she didn't share. Instead, she went back to humming a happy holiday tune, everything finally organized once more. Stepping away from her cookies, she went to pour herself a drink, figuring that it would be better than trying to eat something and finding that she couldn't. Her stomach was knotted with the tension.
"Oh, absolutely," she said, waving off his gratitude with a brilliant sort of smile. "I love to bake, and its nice that other people are enjoying my cookies and not just my Podmates."
"Well, like you said, he would've seen it at some point, since I'd hope you'd wear it eventually."
He keeps watching her face as he dances along.
"I knew he wouldn't like it, but I didn't want to seem like I'm sneaking around behind his back. Everything I do with you while you're figuring things out is going to be up front and honest."
"The only way it'll work out in a way I accept is if the three of us are still together in the end." she says, looking up at Rhett with a serious stare.
"Hey!" She said as Josh came back, smiling and waving to him. "I have more cookies!"
Then, she looked at Lucien. He had spoken to her, after all.
"I used to bake when I was younger. I'd experiment so I had something sweet when Mom and Dad came home from work. Nothing too extravagant. But I have been baking since I could reach everything."
