"Wrongness and death. Something that doesn't belong. Something that shouldn't be here. That should not exist, or does not exist. An anomaly. I generally sense and feel other reality warpers and other derivatives. You don't necessarily feel like a reality warper. In fact, even certain immortals feel like I do. You're different, and I can't put a finger on why just yet."
He doesn't say anything at that but frowns as he ponders her words. Wrongness and death. Neither really felt good to be associated with. For whatever reason. Something that doesn't belong, shouldn't exist. Feelings that echoed throughout his life, despite a supportive family and support system in general. It was hard when, even if he wasn't alone he was different than the majority of his peers. And to hear that he might be different from those like him as well? He wasn't sure how to take it.
"I see..."
His tone was thoughtful, contemplative, and ever so slightly flat.
"I know. But still, being told that you feel like wrongness and death. Like something that shouldn't be here is a hell of a thing to process when coming from someone who can apparently feel reality."
He wasn't really sure how he should feel about it. Just that it echoed some of the insecurities of his life.
"I mean I'm not going to sit and lament about it. If I don't belong or I am wrong, whatever that actually means. I just need to do what I can to be right. To help life, not death. Right?"
"Both? I don't know. It seems kind of weird? Not that I'm doubting you. But like, The Director has used his power a lot over the years and hasn't lost it or anything. Right? So why would us using our powers have an effect like that?"
"It would depend... In regards to magic, I was told that magic was a matter of altering the world, doing things that humans shouldn't... But sparingly, since the world had to maintain balance. And would maintain it itself if it had to. I kept bringing back too many people, the world decided I couldn't bring back my friend and husband."
She hopes this made sense.
"As for my power... There were a lot of factors. How well I cooperated with myself, how stable I was, the complexity, overcompexity, and streamlining of my processes..."
Someone else brought him back. But for what reason still bugged her to this day.
"While my capabilities changed dependent on my methods, figuring out alternatives to your process would pose a bit of a challenge, seeing as you can form portals with a thought. You're just doing things the only way you know how, and knowing how to do things differently doesn't change the fact that your whole being is... The way it is."
Let's not hurt his feelings anymore, she attempts.
"May you tell me when your ability first manifested?"
"When I was a toddler I think? I was to young to remember it, but my parents said I kept getting things like my bottle and toys when I shouldn't be able to. So they started to put me in special needs classes for kids with gifts. They were worried I'd get poison or something to hurt myself or others on accident."
"When I feel like stretching, I do power exhibitions. Put on a short show for people to watch, then hang on to the money until I decide on what cause or need to give it to."
"Sooooo. Normally I'd portal us in some milkshakes and stuff. But I got the Karaoke machine in my room. So do you think I could twist your arm to magic it out to the courtyard for us to set up?"
It's always a trip whenever people ask her to portal to places she doesn't know. She always wonders how it works. Maybe the same way Clairvoyance and Accio know but she doesn't. The world really is a mysterious place.
She steps into the room and makes another portal to the courtyard. She pushes it through.
Eric follows through without hesitation. If there was one thing he wasn't afraid of, it was portals. When they were outside he'd start carefully pulling out small glasses of milkshakes from the hat. Just to be safe. But it could only pull out one at a time.
It's chocolate and peanut butter! He'd take his own, either not noticing or not choosing to notice the way she tried to occupy herself when he mentioned a duet.
"Anyways, I was thinking. Do you like animated movies? Cause considering who we are. I have a GREAT song idea."
