Wonderful. Rebecca blinks as she takes in the familiar face and the fact that Silas is once again doing something he shouldn't. Her frown matches his own, but she doesn't comment on his salvaging, just goes to a nearby computer.
Let's give a round of applause to the elephant in the room.
"I don't recall saying anything about it." She starts pulling up files and a couple browser tabs, nostrils flaring at the sound of something else being torn apart. She keeps her eyes on the screen.
"You don't remember?" She raises her brows as she looks at what reflection there is of him in the monitor screen. Rebecca glances at him briefly when he sits on the desk and looks away again with another frown, but looks back to her screen and closes the tabs. The file, she keeps open.
There's a moment of silence as she takes a deep breath and shakes her head, letting it out in a quiet sight before turning to her seat to look at him.
"Assuming I wouldn't walk away, but would fight when you pushed the line - regardless of your motivation for saying it." She starts ticking the list off on her bare fingers. "That I would be jealous when you start paying attention to another girl." Thinking of Piper shortly after, there.
"Or, if we go into more recent events, that I'm shady because you assumed something and were wrong. Again. That I've apparently dated everyone I consider a friend. Or that I want you to leave, when I was fine doing my own thing until you decided to speak up.
He would focus on that. Rebecca leans back in her seat as she looks up at him with a serious expression.
"I'd say yes, but I doubt that's going to change your mind." She tilts her head to one side, holding his gaze, neither afraid nor hesitant. "I never dated more than one person at any one time, or do anything else with for that matter. Someone else can ask, but I won't agree to it."
"Did you really just use 'whilst?'" Rebecca raises her brows at him, but continues.
"I had every right to question if you were playing head games or had actual meaning in what you said and did." She shrugs. "Yes, Mike and I kissed after you and I had. Like I told you before, I had one date with him, and I chose not to pursue it after one kiss."
She frowns at the mention of Eric and sighs, crossing one ankle over her knee.
He holds up two fingers as response to her initial question before dropping his hand back to his lap.
"Hmph." He exhales and grunts as if he finds amusement in her words.
"Interesting the way you remember certain things. Either way, I told you where I was with things and you...said nothing." He shrugs and looks at the ceiling.
"I suppose that says everything, doesn't it?" He looks back at her.
Her brows raise higher. Silas was another season in 'Personal Interest and Feelings - things Rebecca can't function or respond to like a normal person.'
"I suppose we know all we need to, now. You walked away when I specifically asked you to join me instead of meeting up by circumstance. Or your choice."
"And that would have been nice, had it not ended up turning into how you were also seeing Eric at the time. I suppose I should thank you for letting me go, as to not continue to string me along."
It would have been aggravating if anyone were to think HE had gotten played.
"Then I suppose it's a good thing I have common sense instead of a grudge." She shrugs, rising to her feet with a chuckle of her own.
"Funny thing, that. The date was before you told me you were interested." She debates closing the file, as well, but that puts her in even closer proximity with Silas, and with their history, that wouldn't go well. If he felt like being nosy, it woudln't be anything he didn't already know.
"But you have your version of the story and your own ideas, so I guess that doesn't matter."
This is exactly why Rebecca didn't lean towards the computer. Thankfully, he has her attention, though it might be by the power of the conversation and how aware she is that this could get awkward. Painfully so.
She folds her hands behind her back and shakes her head, her expression almost sad.
"I did." Another chuckle as she remembers his turning his back and walking away. Walking away from seeing if he was interested enough to walk with her, be seen with her in public. If they couldn't manage coffee on campus, what would an actual date have been like? Instead, he'd skipped over everything.
"I'd even started to apologize." She sidesteps away from the chair, looking away from him with the motion to push the chair back in with her foot.
"Then I realized I shouldn't have had to, and if any idea of our relationship was going to be questioning loyalty left and right, then neither of us had any reason to pursue that interest." Now she does look at him.
"You seemed to have moved on, though. Good for you."
Something familiar when it comes to Silas. It causes her to pause, but it's ground she feels she has a better chance of navigating.
"...Maybe not," she amends after a moment. If he had, he wouldn't have spoken to her about leaving or assuming she had thought about him at all more than she had to. He wouldn't constantly be bringing up her supposedly stringing up multiple guys at once, nor the fact that he had supposedly moved on.
"I suppose Enya was just a rebound, then? Or an outlet?"
