Eric was lounging in one of the empty classrooms for some privacy as he continued to read up on theoretical physics. Trying to find something that might inspire him on how to open up his portals without actually ripping reality. If he could somehow bend it like Valencia had tried to close his portal it was possible that he could work it between the seams instead of through him.
But as of yet the only thing it had given him was a headache. He'd sigh and glance to his phone that sat on his desk checking the time.
Several minuets later, the door opens to reveal Rebecca! She's grinning like a cat pinning down a canary as she shuts the door behind her, walking over to the magic man.
"That sounds like a headache right there." She makes a face and leans against the desk next to him so that they're facing each other, a coy smile tugging at her lips.
"I've got something you'll like, though. It will be great for a distraction, and maybe even that headache."
"Naturally." Her smile widens. "You can't always win the game that easilly." She laughs and pushes herself up onto the desk, sitting cross legged as she shifts to face him.
"Hey now, you're the guy with the portal hat. Don't bash my babies unless you give them a chance, first."
"You can with these, yeah. I've used them often enough that they're pretty flexible."
Unlike a standard deck, these cards are much taller and thinner, and thick. "First couple years I had them, you just had to do the casual hand-toss thing."
He'd start shuffling the deck. Bridging it and sliding the deck from hand to hand. He'd even finish it off with a one handed cut before placing it on the table.
He'd fan out the cards in front of him and he'd pick three. He'd pick the fourth one from the right. The twentieth from the right. And the sixth from the left.
He draws the Three of Chalices, Queen of Wands, and Chariot in that order! Rebecca purses her lips together for a moment, tilting her head to the side to study Eric for a moment before looking at the cards again. Then she blinks and smiles.
"Well, this one," she begins as she holds up the first card, "is a reflection of who you are and what brought you to this point. It shows your ability to work with others, even if you have different views and values. Putting others and their needs or desires first, even if it's in small ways. A sense of intuition. You've shown that a lot here." She gives him a warm smile. "And at home, too.
"Now this." She moves on to the Queen card, "is a sign of vibrant energy and passion." She taps the card with her fingertip, still thinking. "It also means you could use some in your life. But it also means control. Control of that energy and turning it to your favor until you come out on top. Inspiration, vivacious. A productive leader.
"And this." Chariot, yo. "Victory is coming. Small ones at first, maybe, but they will lead you to the big question weighing you down. Just don't let go of your self confidence, and you'll get it."
