"Dude, you picked the cards, not me. I'm just telling you what they're saying." She lays the three cards out in front of her so they're between them in the order he drew.
"You could almost see it as a sort of past, present, future thing as well." She leans forward with a small smile.
"Don't worry, I'm not gong to ask you to make life decisions off of these." She chuckles and slips the cards back in with the deck, idly shuffling the for a moment before setting them aside.
"Practice, mostly. There are symbols that give you a basic start on what each card represents. Together, they almost paint a picture, or like each one's just one part of a story that needs you to make it whole."
"Maybe, maybe not. It only tells part, after all. This reading is just something general. It marks the big things without a lot of detail. If another card came up, that would change what the focus was, what you need to pay attention to or change, or what parts might have lead from one thing to another in your life, but it's still you." She offers him a sheepish smile.
"Don't worry, your occult nerd girlfriend knows how to play fair without demanding your belief."
It was like a cold reading. There was no wrong answer apparently because it was vague. But it was something to ponder at least. If nothing else for a laugh at least. He'd lean forward and smile at her, his eyes meeting hers.
"So, you told me what the cards see in me. What about you? What do you see?"
"I see that vibrant energy and ability to mesh with others, including a quiet little goth girl who would snap at people for daring to knock on her door." She grins and leans forward, resting her chin on her hand as their faces come closer together.
"The guy who listens to me, talks sense to me, and knows how to make me smile. Who reminds me to enjoy life and embrace each moment. Someone who brings joy to those around him. The guy who thought I was worth the time and risk to kiss me not once, but twice, including after he'd had mouth rot." She looks down for a moment, looking at her hands as they idly play with the folds of her jacket.
"I see my best friend." She looks up at him again, realizing she's started to ramble but unable to fully stop.
His eyes moved down as she continued as a blush crept up his face, despite the bluster and the games he wasn't used to being talked to like that. And it made his heart ache, it was sweet and outside of his family he couldn't recall anyone really expressing anything close to that kind of sentiment toward him before.
Rather than poke about what the other thing was Eric would look back up, leaning in to capture her lips with hers for a gentle kiss. Slowly bringing a hand up to cup her cheek, he'd stroke it with his thumb.
The lack of flirtation and games surprises Rebecca for a moment; she had expected him to ask what the other thing was. The sight of his blushing stayed with her as their lips met in a soft kiss, her mouth pulling into a tiny smile while her hands going over his and letting their fingers entwine, gently pulling him towards her by his other hand.
He'd move with her pull, awkwardly shifting to stand up so he could lean further into the kiss. His free hand moving to hers, entwining their fingers in both hands as he gave it a small squeeze before breaking the kiss.
"No." She laughs softly and shakes her head, leaning back on her free hand as she continues to hold his hand in her other one.
"No, I figured you were a player and a party boy. And a trouble maker. The sort that would dazzle a dozen and leave them in the dust when you found your next interest." Her lips quirk as she gives his hand another squeeze.
"Turns out you're the guy who silly strings the director's office, knows how to have a heart-to-heart when it's needed, and is just like everyone else. You just embrace the fun in life."
"So, surprised from the whole no touching thing, or the fact that I tend to bite people's heads off when I meet them." Case in point: almost everyone, but he's seen her initial response to Matt.
"Well, if it makes you feel any better, I figured the same for you, too." Her grin shifts to a warm, almost shy smile.
"I mean, you have plenty of other choices. Social butterflies, people who are really smart or have hearts of gold." You know, normal-ish people. She chuckles and lifts her other hand to playfully flick the top of some of the hair along his forehead.
"Eh, just don't do the one-eyed emo thing. Besides, I can brood enough for the both of us."
"Hmmm, but I already like you as you are." Which is weird as you can imagine, with Eric being the socliaite nice guy. But it's a nice surprise for her, too.
She wraps her arms around his neck and pulls him down towards her, capturing his lips in another, lingering kiss before pulling back to whisper, "I have a confession."
