Everyone sure looks happy to have been taken over. Figuring she can catch up if need be, Eliott decides to explore the city first. Doing not fighting and learning was always more her style.
She's mostly looking for more signs of the people loving Jimothy, and if it seems off in any way or legitimate.
It occurs to Josh that this whole illusion business could have rendered the body armor thing a complete non-issue, but it's too late to go back for it, so he doesn't say anything.
He keeps his hands to his sides despite the overwhelming urge to stick them in his pockets - doing so would probably make it look like he was drawing a weapon. At any rate, he wouldn't be of much use until their cover was completely blown and they needed a shield. So he kept eyes open, ears open, mouth shut.
Aaron can take a pill when they're out of everyone's sight, but for now he doesn't want to be calling attention to it. Just this one mission, just seeing this business with Clavish out, then he can rest, recover, get used to everything. Seeing the bastard's face all over the city fills him with determination!
"Careful not to startle anyone," he notes to Nate as he heads in the direction of the palace, slowing his pace a little to stay close to Sarah. Sure, it's letting things be personal, not professional, and he's trying to stay professional... but if something goes wrong here, so far from any backup, he still wants to protect her.
Did Aaron take a pain pill on the way to the palace?
As they get closer to the Palace they see the throngs of people thinning out and more military and police presence filtering through the streets. Between them and the hill where the Palace resides they can see several supply bunkers and Military structures walled off. They can also see a faint shimmer in the air around the Palace in the distance.
Josh can't help but be concerned by all the military presence he's seeing, but the shimmer surrounding the palace also takes his eyes for a moment. What on earth IS that?
He did indeed, as soon as nobody was looking at him. He keeps close to Sarah, looking at what kind of security they're dealing with. Checkpoints? Monitoring equipment? Do the security forces look like they're suspicious of the group or even noticing them yet?
The group doesn't seem to have garnered attention until Mark continues toward the Palace and the checkpoint. Prompting several of the guards to take notice of him and raise their weapons.
"This is a restricted Area. Turn back or be purged."
Josh isn't one hundred percent sure what the shimmer is. But it does kind of remind him a little of his force fields.
Sarah doesn't feel Jim per se. But with his image everywhere it's hard to not feel like he is watching her right now. That he knows she is there. That the posters warning that the Inquisition is watching were speaking directly to her.
Angel can here radios in the distance. Apparently a group of suspicious people had been seen entering the city. Security forces has located a flak jacket and they are suspecting it is more resistance terrorists plotting an attack.
Josh had, indeed, been guessing the shimmer was akin to a barrier protecting the palace from bombs or the like. It wasn't of terrible concern to him; even if it was a barrier, there had to be a way into the palace.
Worst case scenario was, of course, that it was a total bubble. But then King Jimothy the Jerk was either a massive shut-in, or there was a way to shut the thing off. Food for thought for later. For now...
They were kinda being threatened with death. That ain't good. He's trying not to jump the gun so-to-speak, but if things get messy he's gotta be quick on the draw with his shield, or Mark could pay the price.
