She doesn't answer that for the same reason she didn't ask about his way of making sure she wouldn't leave against her will. Blowing up Mike after a single date gave her a good idea what would happen with her father, and that was exactly the sort of thing she wanted to avoid. She wasn't out to hurt or punish her father; she just wanted to be free of the whole mess and have her own life.
Her lips twitch as she fully turns to face him, surprisingly relaxed. "That doesn't mean you're not thinking about something right now. Or some things."
"No. Mr. Amtrum and I had a long talk on the subject. He told me his own goals and causes, enlightening me on the fact that I don't seem to have much of my own."
She's not seen this side of him before; it holds her interest and then some as she listens to him vent. After a moment she nods.
"Well, if you ask me, you're in the right place to find out. You came to Paradigm for a reason. Between that and what's important to you, you probably have a good start."
"That makes sense." She shifts, leaning back now instead of forward on the railing. "So you want to be the best. At what?" You can't be the best at everything. Sadly. At this point she's just prompting him to get him to think it through and see where his hiccups are.
"Them." Again, it's obervation, not a question. She sighs, trying to figure out a way to explain as well as understand.
"Well, I guess it depends. Do you want to be working with people you know will have your back? What if you need someone else because you can't be in two places at once? People follow a leader more than they fight against them."
She blinks, expression neutral. "I wasn't thinking metas. I was thinking those you either don't like or work well with." It's the truth, at least. And it also encompass a lot of people. Probably.
"Who knows, maybe doing it this way for now will give you some ideas." She shrugs, knowing better than to mention more.
