"Never met Angel." Go figure he's got himself in a position to peg another of her friends, though she withholds her thoughts for now. "Eliott and I have worked together before, though."
She massages the back of her neck as she speaks. Having been outside longer than Silas, the cold's starting to ache her muscles ache, but she doesn't want to go inside just yet. The daily grind of classes and training can wait a while longer.
"Make anything new lately?" She seems almost hesitant about it, but considering he nearly blew up a friend with one, she's not too sure she should be asking. Not to mention she's lost a couple friends over her actions with him already and finding normal-ish conversation topics tends to be difficult sometimes.
Silas seems confused initially when she shows interests in his gadgets! It turns into an amused smirk as he pulls a few things off his belt.
"Nothing too recently. But I've developed a flash bang disc in addition to the others as well as a pain inducement gun based on the Chthonic design. Eliott had designed me a simple melee weapon to test her engineering as well." He shows her both!
"I've made a...met someone who also shares my interest of gadgets. I've been helping him with some new designs and vice versa."
She blinks as several inventions come out due to her question, along with his enthusiasm. Looking over the various creations, she nods and looks them over as he shows them to her, trying to drown out her father's words.
Honey in one hand and poison in the other.
She really does need to get out more.
"May I?" She nods towards the escrima sticks as he talks about it. She's no inventor, but she is curious to see what Eliott created, and figures it's the least likely to blow up on her just on contact.
"Oh?" Looking up at his verbal slip, her smile grows for half a second, just enough to question whether it changed at all. "Who?"
"If you hold here, you activate the dry stun capability." He shows her the hand positioning to squeeze and show the taser portion at the tip of the escrima!
She takes hold and points the escrima away from both of them before shifting her hold to the one he showed her, nodding at the effect when she squeezes. Good job, Eliott.
Though he probably shouldn't just be carrying weapons around any more than the other things on his belt...but then, considering some students and their powers, it seemed better that he reach for these than something else.
"Can't say I've met him." She shakes her head and, carefully, gives the weapon back to Silas.
"They tend to be." Her hands slip into her pockets as he re-equips his belt, watching as the gray sky starts to lighten turn blue. At least, it's supposed to be. The cloud cover makes it difficult to be certain.
It's hard for her to decide if she should look at him or fall back on comfort of looking at something else for distraction when bringing up subjects people might dislike. She keeps the eye contact this time and hopes she doesn't regret it.
"You started to say you made a friend, didn't you?"
"And haven't found a replacement that fits." She nods. You don't necessarily have to tolerate allies, but it helps. Especially if you can achieve your goals more quickly and get away from each other in the process.
"Is it the idea, or protecting your image?" This time, she does look away, giving him a chance to do the same if he likes.
"All the better to stay ahead of everyone else," she muses, still not looking at him, though the smile fades. She figured as much, and can't say it's disappointing.
She considers her next words for a moment. the last thing either of them want is for her words to come across as anything remotely like "friendship is magic! It saves the day and heals hearts~!"
"A bit." She looks at him again. "I think it's worth having a couple of them, or even one. It's not the end of the world to have someone you would trust that fully." A thoughtful pause. "Though it's more appealing when there's a mutual level of trust."
Or, in Silas's case of appeal, having as much trust and information on the other person, just in case.
"Yes." It's part of why they're up here, after all. Whatever else an inner circle brings, it helps for them to understand that so having down time doesn't become an epic quest just to get a bit of time alone.
