This power's got to be good for more than brute force after all." His job this mission was basically all support. Support and rear guard/slowing down Rian's pursuit so they could get to the roof. His darkness feels more and more useless with every passing day, though. One wonders if it's somehow emotion-based, and his own depression and self doubt is making his power weaker. He decides not to get into how he wants to increase his raw power so he doesn't lose out on effectiveness, doesn't have to be on the sidelines, doesn't run into people he's useless against any more - that counts as being an "arrogant little shit". That's taking on an army of metahumans, not just a small team of agents. Though that's an important question she just asked him, and it takes him a thoughtful second before he says anything. All three would almost certainly take it out of his hide afterwards. Also, it's still embarrassing that they're discussing parental permission in the middle of a war, which might show on his face.
