Cookies made everything better! Right? Chocolate chip, sugar cookies, snickerdoodles, peanut butter cookies... She had five bags full of fresh baked, homemade cookies, all of different kinds. She had decided to wear one of her favorite Easter themed outfits.
Evie had already given a few people cookies and brought smiles to their faces, despite the war and impending doom that seemed to hover above everybody these days.
When she saw Rebecca, she saw her from behind and her grin only managed to widen. The Goth girl always seemed like she might need a reason to smile. Even though the two didn't have the best relationship, little Evie still considered her somebody worth befriending.
Rebecca slows a step at the sound of her name, her first full name telling her it wasn't someone she was particularly close with. It also wasn't entitled or pretentious, nor was it agitated. No, instead it was a sugary, happy-go-lucky voice that she recognized after a moment.
Eh, she'd had worse. Slowly, the agent looks over her shoulder, scanning the hall for what was undoubtedly going to be Evie.
Rebecca suppresses a groan, glad at leas that the other agent remembered to be quieter and less in-your-face with all the sunshine and rainbows.
"Hey, Evie." It took a split second to remember she preferred to be called by the nickname than her full one, but Rebecca manages. The redhead is certainly dressed for spring, for sure, but the smile's bright enough to cause a headache if it could reflect light.
Cookies. Food she could have now. For a second, her stomach clenches, begging her to indulge, but Rebecca pushes it aside with a small smile and shake of her head.
"No thanks. I'm sure there are others who could use them more." Like Eric. She still didn't trust his cooking any.
"Sounds like you've been making the rounds, then."
Her smile faltered ever so slightly as Rebecca refused her cookies, and a sad look touched her gaze. She was hoping to make her smile, really smile, with her offer, but she didn't seem to be able to. Still, she tried to keep her smile on her face.
"I've run into a few people but I haven't gotten to stop too many. Most people seem to want to be by themselves these days..."
"Yeah, kind of a death trap for your brain for some people." Rebecca sighs and nods, hands in her jean pockets as she continues to walk and assumes Evie will keep up. She doens't want to just stand around in the halls.
"Still, it's nice to have time to yourself. Some people are better off that way."
Evie brightened up as she accepted, then held up the bags.
"Which kind do you want? I have chocolate chip, peanut butter, sugar cookies, snickerdoodles... and you know those soft dough cookies with the hershey kiss? I have those, too!"
She falls silent, still walking with a thoughtful expression on her face before glancing over at Evie with a thoughtful frown.
"Well, if you feel that way," dear god she's about to actually do this, "there's a new kid around here. Tinier than us, blonde, maye a little younger? British accent. I think she could use a friend. Just....try to cheer her up with something other than food."
Rebecca frowns harder, not at the statement - which is clearly an opinion she doesn't share - but the fact that she just doesn't gossip about people or start talking about them in ways they don't want. Then again, if you're willing to make a crater in the ground at one question, she probably shouldn't worry about it.
"Her power's kind of like mine. Food would be an innocent mistake at best, but more likely an insult." Another look at the redhead, a little sharper this time despite the even and calm tone.
"And don't mention me talking to you about this. At all."
"Oh no!" Evie pouted. She couldn't imagine not being able to eat something, anything, and actually taste it. She LOVED food. It was the answer to all problems.
"Of course not! I won't say anything at all! She's one of the new agents?"
